Proofreading and editing

To give the reader a true, in-depth understanding of a text, expert editors are often required. They will carefully review the translated material and ensure that it conforms to the needs of a native speaker of the language.

There are two main types of editing:

Editorial review after completion of a Lingvo Connect translation

You can rest assured that after our company completes a translation, editors and proofreaders will work diligently to smooth out any remaining lack of conformity or any other abnormalities. This service is included into the translation’s cost and ensures that you are provided you with a translation of the highest quality.

Editorial review of a previously translated text

If you already have a translation that was completed previously but are not confident in its accuracy, we can provide you editing as a separate service. In this case, we would like to offer the following options for editing service.

- Translation review and correction

The review consists of correcting and adapting the material from orthographical, grammatical and lexical perspectives.

- Literary editing  (by a linguist)

This service is always completed by a native speaker of the language and includes a thorough review of the following elements of the text: orthography, punctuation, grammar, and style.

- Technical editing and proofreading

This service is completed by a specialist who is intimately familiar with the terminology corresponding to the text. The technical editor carefully checks the translation for any semantic errors, and assumes responsibility for the accuracy and consistent use of terminology.

- Complete translation review
A complete translation review combines all the components of our editing services, including the work of two editors - one of whom is literary and the other is technical.

- Technical translation review

This merely entails checking the accuracy of the meaning conveyed in the source text. The editor in this case does not check for stylistics or accuracy in the utilized terminology; neither does he correct grammatical or lexical errors, which remain in the text. Corrections are introduced to the text only when semantic errors are detected.

- Review and editing of similar documents

This is an economical option for editing a large quantity of documents containing similar or almost identical information.

- Page layout and format review

This involves checking the text for accurate layout in regards to words carried over to another line, proper word separation, letters, figures and other elements. Format errors are most obvious when the reviewer does not understand the text. The review of text format is completed by a professional editor and does not include any translation work parse; rather, it consists in reviewing the translated text to ensure it coincides with the format of the original.
